We are asked all the time why our cylinder honing process is different from everyone else for the ZX-14 cylinders. The answer is simple: We do the final .003" of honing with this custom made torque plate. Diamond honing a ZX-14 cylinder with our custom torque plate in the Sunnen CV-616 automatic cylinder hone reduces the cylinder distortion by 80%. It does this by simulating the torque and cylinder distortion of the head bolts when the head is torqued in place. Unlike the Hayabusa or zx-12r, the zx-14 head bolts thread into the top deck and cylinder walls of the block and this stresses and distorts the cylinders as much as .005" when the head is torqued in place. It's just one more reason why we make more power than our competitors.
